Tough day at Danske Bank
Today has been a tough day in Danske Bank. The bank has decided to make 420 positions redundant, including 230 in Denmark.
Across the organisation Danske Bank has decided to make 420 positions redundant.
Chairman of Finansforbundet i Danske Bank, Kirsten Ebbe Brich, says:
"I am truly upset on behalf of those who have been made redundant, and my thoughts are with everyone who has been told that their job no longer exists. All affected members of Finansforbundet i Danske Bank have had a union representative by their side, and we will invite them to information meetings about their future situation and provide the necessary legal advice”.
A major task for Danske Bank now is to support the employees who remain.
”The workload is already very high in Danske Bank, so it will be a key priority for us to ensure that tasks are properly prioritised. Today's redundancies must not have the consequence that the remaining employees must run even faster,” says Kirsten Ebbe Brich.
Concerned about the future
The redundancies are across the entire organisation and to a degree that shakes Finansforbundet in Danske Bank.
"At a time when the bank is performing well financially, I am frustrated and disappointed that the bank finds it necessary to a round of redundancies at this scale. Finansforbundet i Danske Bank wishes the best for the bank, but we disagree that such a large round of redundancies is the right way to promote the bank’s success”, says Kirsten Ebbe Brich.

The business areas most affected are Financial Crime Risk & Prevention, Technology & Services, Large Corporates & Institutions and PC BCPM.
