Help giving the work environment a boost
Do you want to help in ensuring that your colleagues have a good indoor climate and proper conditions when it comes to workload and time pressure? Then you have the chance now when Nordea is looking for health and safety representatives for the coming period
At Nordea, there are around 40 health and safety representatives who have a special eye on the physical working environment as well as the more general psychological working environment.
Yesterday, the election for health and safety representatives commenced for a new three-year period.
"It is important that we have a good, local and committed voice that is prepared to ensure a good framework for the well-being of colleagues in everyday life. Therefore, I hope that good colleagues will stand for election in the upcoming election," says board member Louise Have Lund from Finansforbundet in Nordea.
Networking, community and influence
Service advisor Ali Shughait in PeB is among the current health and safety representatives, and he is running for re-election:
"I have gained a good network and a super cool community by becoming a health and safety representative. It is a good break from everyday life to meet with other, committed colleagues who also care about a good working climate. The work has also given me influence, and through the assignment, I feel more clearly what I get out of my membership of Finansforbundet. It's great that the union is involved, and that we can, for example, participate in the annual seminar with other health and safety and union representatives," says Ali Shughait.
He has been involved in designing the questionnaire in the new workplace risk assessment (WPA – APV in Danish).
"I have received a very positive response to this, and it is clear that the work makes a difference," he says. Ali Shughait is now in the process of drafting action plans that will improve the working environment locally.
Distribution by location
So far, the health and safety representatives' areas have followed Nordea's organisation. In the coming period, the distribution will be location-based.
"It allows for more presence and a better distribution of the number of employees for the health and safety representative," says Louise Have Lund.
Initially, you can express your interest until February 12 by clicking on the link in the email sent to employees in all the new work environment areas. If there are more people interested than positions in an area, colleagues will be invited to vote on who should be the health and safety representatives. This election is expected to be completed on February 27.
New health and safety representatives will be invited to participate in the relevant training. In addition, the health and safety organisation at Nordea is developing some new tools that can be used in the work.
Health and safety versus union representatives
At Nordea, there are a number of local health and safety groups with health and safety representatives (arbejdsmiljørepræsentant/AMR in Danish). Compared to union representatives (tillidsrepræsentant/TR in Danish), AMR discusses the physical working environment. When it comes to the psychological working environment, TR will typically handle person-specific cases, while AMR has an eye on conditions that affect larger groups of employees. While TR only helps members of Finansforbundet in Nordea, AMR helps everyone regardless of membership.
