Launch of negotiations on collective agreements in the financial sector
Finansforbundet and the Danish Employers' Association for the Financial Sector (FA) are opening negotiations on a new collective agreement for employees in Denmark’s banks, mortgage credit institutions and IT finance companies as well as for insurers.
On Wednesday 18 January, the FA and Finansforbundet met for the first substantial negotiations concerning a new collective agreement in the financial area.
"We are facing historically difficult and tough negotiations. Pay will undoubtedly be the overriding topic, but I expect that skills development, flexibility and well-being will also be key elements in the negotiations," says Nicole Offendal, CEO of the FA.
The collective agreements between the FA and Finansforbundet cover approx. 120 businesses and more than 41,000 employees, the majority of whom are employed in Denmark’s banks and mortgage credit institutions, while others are employed in IT finance companies and as insurers.
“We are entering into very delicate negotiations at a time of complexity. Businesses are delivering good results in almost every area, and inflation is eroding our purchasing power. Despite blurred economic prospects, this calls for a responsible result, which of course also includes reasonable compensation as regards terms of pay. We are going to work hard to reach a solution, but I both hope and believe that it is feasible", says Kent Petersen, President of Finansforbundet.
The meeting on Wednesday is the first in a series of agreed negotiation rounds.
The current collective agreement between the FA and Finansforbundet expires on 31 March. According to the plan, a new collective agreement must therefore enter into force on 1 April this year.
