Paid insurances

You are generally entitled to dental, health and group life insurance, which is paid by your employer. It saves you a total of DKK 4,800 every year.

Increased holiday bonus

Every year, most employees get a holiday bonus equivalent to 3.25% of their annual salary, which is significantly higher than the statutory 1.00%.

Long paternity leave for everyone

You typically have 26 weeks of paternity leave with full pay, regardless of whether you are a mom, dad, or an LGBT+ family.

Annual days of holiday/days off

You are entitled to at least 50 days of holiday and days off every year.

Extra severance pay

If you have turned 40 and have at least 12 years’ seniority in the organisation, you will usually have the right to an extra number of months’ salary and pension contributions with your severance pay.

Fixed salary

Normally, you cannot be employed on a fixed salary basis before your monthly salary reaches DKK 54,050 in 2023 (DKK 56,050 from 2024), and you are entitled to independent work planning at the same time.

The time bank

You can have up to 400 hours in your time bank. You decide whether these hours should be taken as time off in lieu or be paid out to you. You may owe up to 21 hours.

Five days of absence during child illness

You usually have the right to 5 days’ absence if your child is ill. If you have more children, you are entitled to an additional 5 days’ absence if they fall ill in succession.

High pension contribution

You are usually entitled to a pension contribution of at least 16.90%, of which the workplace pays at least 11.65%.

Part-time employment for seniors

From age 60, you will usually be entitled to reduce your working hours – with no effect on the pension contributions for up to 7 years.

Part-time employment for parents

Parents with children under the age of 12 generally have the right to part-time work for 3-12 months.
